Obesity effects are health damaging and life threatening. It not only causes severe health damage and other disabilities but also has a mental effect. Obesity effects regarding health can be quite devastating. Every year in US alone obesity related health issues cause over three hundred thousand deaths. The health related bills regarding obesity is over 150 billion dollars. Obesity causes the patient to lose flexibility of the body. The patient has difficulty in almost everything he\she does. Obesity can case high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, cancer, problems in joints, sleep apnea, metabolic syndrome, respiratory problems and even psychological problems. Of course obesity effects also include being overweight. Many have a misconception that obesity only comes from eating too much; thinking that the person has a mental problem like eating compulsively. But that is not the case. Some studies suggest that depressed persons are likely to become obese. Those who are depressed often comfort themselves by eating food that is sweet. The excessive fat in these foods along with the metabolic syndrome that they develop make them obese.

One of the primary obesity effects are high blood pressure and heart diseases. Due to obesity the patient develops a lot of excessive fat in the body. These fats require more oxygen and nutrients, which causes the bold vessels to increase the flow of blood. For this reason obesity effects the heart pumping rate. The circulation of excess blood also puts more pressure on the artery walls, which in turn increases the heart rate even further. Too much weight also causes the heart to pump faster. Obesity effects the flow of blood in certain parts of the body.

Type 2 diabetes is primarily caused by obesity. Type 2 diabetes can also occur among children due to obesity. Insulin regulates the blood sugar in our body. Obesity interferes with the insulin causing it to become less active and losing control of blood sugar. This evidently causes type 2 diabetes. Even obesity in fair amount can cause diabetes.

 

Atherosclerosis – one of obesity effects

Atherosclerosis is the disease that makes the arteries stiffer, one of obesity effects. This disease is more common in those who have obesity effects than those who do not. Obese people often feel chest pain due to the narrowing of arteries. Narrowed arteries are likely to cause blood clotting and result in stroke or heart attack.

Obesity effects the joints of the human body for the extra weight that the person has to carry. Those who are not obese when faced with similar problems are offered the joint replacement surgery. But for an obese person this is not recommended. It is because that the artificial joint that is placed during the surgery may not be able to handle the weight of an obese person.

In modern days attractiveness usually implies the outward appearance of any person to be slim. Society usually blames obese persons for their condition. Obesity also seems to affect a person’s job life and relationships. Obesity effects are endless and anyone who has it should seriously consider taking a diet and exercises.
